Pierantonios Papazoglou joined the Cyprus Institute in June 2017 as a Scientific Coordinator at the Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre (EEWRC), where he is responsible for:

  • - the administration and management of research projects
  • - the identification of funding opportunities at national, regional and international levels
  • - the establishment and fostering of partnerships
  • - the preparation of competitive grants proposals
  • - the management and exploitation of Research and Innovation results, and
  • - the dissemination, communication and public outreach of the Centre’s output.

He also holds responsibilities linked to the Institute’s Research and Innovation Management and Support office (RIMS), where his focus is on Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions “Individual Fellowships”, EURAXESS and Researcher Mobility Support (C&C, HRS4R, Career Development), European Research Council (ERC) Grants, Climate Action and Environment, Water and Marine, Space, and Security.

He has previously worked at the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (2008 – 2017) as National Contact Point and Programme Committee Member for FP7 and Horizon 2020, in the functions of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Climate-Action-Environment-Resource-Efficiency-Raw-Materials, and Space, and he was also the EURAXESS Cyprus Bridgehead Organisation coordinator. His professional background also includes private consultancy experience (EcoCypria Ltd.; 2017), as well as research experience (Stevens Institute of Technology; 2003-2005, University of Nicosia; 2007-2008). He holds a BSc(Hons.) in Environmental Sciences from the University of the Aegean (2003) in Lesvos-Greece, and a MEng. in Environmental Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology (2005) in New-Jersey-USA. He is currently in pursuit of a PhD (exp. in 2019) in Management from the University of Glasgow, in Scotland-UK, with his thesis focusing on Crisis Management, Emergency Planning and Disaster Resilience. Pierantonios is an active Volunteer Safety Officer for the Cyprus Civil Defence Force; he is married and he has three children.
