New Horizons Open in Franco-Cypriot Scientific Collaboration

The Cyprus Instite and the Institut Français sign an agreement with the support of the French Ambassador

Nicosia, May 13, 2016– H.E. Mr. René Troccaz, the Ambassador of France, and Mr. Jean-Pierre Mahoué, the director of the Institut Français yesterday visited the Cyprus Institute to discuss how to reinforce scientific cooperation between France and Cyprus.

Following a tour of CyI facilities, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Cyprus Institute and the Institut Français, in the presence of the Ambassador, which will allow the co-organisation of scientific conferences and symposia, scientific exhibitions, and promote researcher mobility between France and Cyprus.

The new MoU formalises this cooperation and allows us to expand our joint activities on local, regional and European issues. The Cyprus Institute is a research and technology institution, carrying out pioneering research programs involving cutting-edge technologies in order to address problems of regional as well as international significance. The Institut Français in Cyprus aims to promote and disseminate the French culture and language, promoting the Francophonie on the island.
