Dr. Spyros Bezantakos holds an MSc (University of the Aegean; 2011) degree in Environmental Engineering and a PhD (University of the Aegean; 2016) in Aerosol Science. His main fields of expertise include the characterization of aerosol physicochemical properties and their effects on climate, the characterization of the performance and the development of instrumentation for probing these properties.
As a researcher he had participated in more than 9 national/international projects related to the characterization of the physicochemical properties of atmospheric/indoor aerosols and their climate/health effects, while he has more than 23 publications in peer to peer review journals.
Currently he is employed as an Associate Research Scientist in the Instrumentation Lab and Nano-Lab facilities (INL) of the Climate & Atmospheric Research Center (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute (CyI).
Prior of his employment in the CyI, he has been a postdoctoral researcher in Université du Littoral Côte d' Opale (ULCO) in France (2016-2017) and the main researcher of the PRECEPT project, materialized by a consortium between a private company (ADITESS LTD) and the CyI (2018-2021).
