Rafael Stylianou

Rafael Stylianou holds the position of Scientific Coordinator at the RIMS Office and CaSToRC of the Cyprus Institute. Current activities entail identification of funding opportunities, planning, monitoring and reporting of projects funded by national and European programs, aligned to support research and innovation actions of the Cyprus Institute.

He has previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering of the University of Cyprus with proposal-writing experience in topics that concern additive manufacturing. Prior to his postdoctoral position, he was employed as a research assistant at the University of Leoben in Austria within the framework of his doctoral studies. His doctoral research focused on the optimization of hard coatings deposited on cutting tools which was supported by industry partners from CERATIZIT Austria GmbH.

He has collected further experience abroad as an intern and in turn for the purpose of completing a master thesis at the company Robert Bosch GmbH located in Stuttgart-Feuerbach, Germany.
