Abstract
The talk will initially take you through the exciting achievements and work carried out at CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory and the birthplace of the World Wide Web. Later we will have a look at the Crab Cavities (CC), a scheme that will recover the head-on collisions at the Interaction Points (IPs) of the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the upgrade of the LHC, which aims to increase the LHC luminosity to L ~ 5 · 1034 cm-2 · s-1. The first time that CC will ever be tested with proton beams will be in 2018 in the SPS machine.
This talk will focus on the simulations and experimental studies performed in preparation for the SPS tests.
