Abstract
Karen Golmer will be delivering a one-hour lecture, during which she will delve into the incentives and challenges faced by enterprising individuals transitioning from academic institutions and more specifically MIT. She will also share success stories, highlighting the lessons learned from each, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the journey to success and whether this success is primarily attributed to the resources available or culture.
About the Speaker
Karen Golmer is retired Innovation Manager of the MIT Deshpande Centre Grant and Catalyst Program. She is an innovative leader who facilitates industry and university collaboration to advance new technologies, identify technical challenges and find solutions to mitigate business risks.
Karen is a National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Instructor and an artist. A chemist with an MBA and 35 years of corporate experience from lab professional to global program director with companies including GE, Ecolab, Calgon, Diversey and Kodak. Startup experience includes cofounding a new filtration membrane startup out of MIT: Via Separations.
