Introduction to Building Performance Simulation
Course Summary
Building Performance Simulation (BPS) is a branch of applied science, which adopts computational modelling and simulation to support informed decision-making for the design of high-performance buildings. It is a fundamental tool to tackle current open challenges due to evolving human needs with respect to new technological possibilities and environmental limitations.
The course will introduce the foundation for BPS and the physics models underlying simulation software. Course participants will learn how to choose the most suitable BPS software on the basis of the simulation objectives and will create a building energy model, while being able to assess the performance of a building and the reliability of the simulation outcomes.
