Andriana Nikolaidou is responsible for the digital curation of the art and cultural heritage collections at the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs) of STARC at the Cyprus Institute (CyI). As a digital curator, she combines her background in art with new media to transform how we experience and understand shared cultural heritage.

Her research focuses on integrating cultural narratives and storytelling with advanced imaging technologies to create digital cultural heritage scenarios. Drawing from her expertise in Interactive Design, Andriana designs and implements engaging digital communications for knowledge repositories related to art history, archaeology, and cultural heritage.

From interactive web-based explorations of sites to digital storytelling art installations and exhibitions, she brings the lab’s scholarly research to life for a broader public engagement. Some of her recent projects include explorations of Giovanni (da Rimini) Baronzio’s Crucifixion,  Titian's Ecce Homo, UNESCO churches in Troodos, and other Cypriot archaeological sites.

As digital curator of DIOPTRA: The Edmée Leventis Digital Library for Cypriot Culture, she manages a range of digital archival collections, including photographic archives, numismatic materials, manuscripts, and 3D archaeological models. In this capacity, she works with the digitization workflow of DIOPTRA’s assets, ensuring user-centred accessibility, effective data management, archiving, and digital preservation to study Cypriot Cultural Heritage.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts, an MSc in Interactive Design and an MSc in Digital Cultural Heritage.

Research Interests

Her current research examines artists’ studios as evolving spaces that serve as living archives, both as creative and cultural heritage sites.

She works on the digital documentation of artists' studios across Cyprus using interactive documentation methods.  The digital documentation of an extensive array of studio elements examines the intimate connections between artists and their environments, thus enriching our understanding of their creative spaces.
